Shaftsbury is nestled in the southwest corner of Vermont bordering Bennington and New York State. It is approximately a one hour drive from Albany, NY and Pittsfield, MA; four hours from Boston and NYC and 45 minutes to many ski resorts. ELECTION IS MARCH 3, 2015
Voting from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the
Shaftsbury Fire Department on Buck Hill Road
Voter registration deadline is February 25, 2015
Early voting is available by calling the Town Clerk's Office At 802-442-4038, and requesting a ballot be sent to you, or by going into the Town Clerk's Office and voting in the office, or taking your own ballot home, and mailing it back, or hand carry it back to the Town Clerk's Office.
Absentee / Early Voter Ballots are available within 30 days of the election. If you wish to obtain an Absentee Ballot, bring the following request to the Town Clerk's at 61 Buck Hill Road or mail to PO Box 409, Shaftsbury, VT 05256. Voters may also come to the office prior to Election Day and vote in person.
Please request ballot in time to have it back by the close of polls on Election Day.
2015 DOG LICENSES AVAILABLE
Dogs must be licensed by April 1st each year to avoid late fines.

Ballot Language for Zoning Bylaw Changes
Voters will be asked to approve changes to the Town’s zoning bylaws in the March 2015 election.

Bennington County Solid Waste Alliance Agreement
Select Board member Mitch Race, Shaftsbury's representative on the Bennington County Solid Waste Alliance Board, presented the below information at the Select Board meeting on Monday, February 16, 2015. The alliance, made up of 13 towns across Bennington County, was formed to help municipalities better comply with Act 148, Vermont's Universal Recycling and Composting Law. One of the requirements of Act 148 is that municipalities pass an ordinance implementing Variable Rate Pricing by July 1, 2015.
